Ben’s Big Gig

How do you create a gig in the collaborative era of Twitter, wikipedia, YouTube and all the rest? You crowdsource everything. Its a kind of Cabaret 2.0 with backing performers, creators and collaborators from around the web and all over the globe. Can you help us plan, market and create a web connected, live streamed, fully documented Big gig?

Topiary, nepotism and songs

Xander and I spent the afternoon putting up posters in shop windows. We avoided the usual pub notice boards. Frankly, nobody is ever going to see a silver-ink hand-letterpressed gig poster for an evening of social media cabaret in the Dew Drop Inn and decide to phone for a ticket. Ever.

So we concentrated on two main targets: people we know and shops whose decor matches the poster. Luckily North Oxford is full of both of these, and the windows of Summertown are now resplendent with Ben’s Big Gig posters. ;)

As for topiary, I haven’t managed to arrange the sponsored shrubs yet. But I’m working on it.
